Sandbar

Sandbar is a technology company developing Stream, a voice-first ring that lets people capture thoughts, talk through ideas, and interact with technology without constantly reaching for their phone.

The website was designed to introduce this new kind of hardware, while also becoming the first major expression of the brand's visual identity. Working with an existing direction, the project involved refining the typography, dialing in the color palette, and establishing a more complete visual language through the lens of the website.

The ambition was to create something that felt refined and editorial, with a sense of warmth and humanity. Minimal, but with just enough personality to avoid feeling overly clinical.

The original wave mark and initial visual identity direction were developed by Bodyshop.

Sandbar's website uses a deliberately restrained visual language, with generous space, carefully considered typography, and a warm, muted palette. The typeface and its application were refined to give the website a slightly more editorial quality, establishing a balance between the precision of the hardware and a softer, more human sensibility.

There's also a subtle, almost ethereal quality to the interactions. The Speak / Think / Go carousel uses blur to shift focus between the different capabilities of the ring, letting each moment come into view while the others fall away. A fairly simple mechanism that gives the experience a more considered, unhurried pace.

The product page was designed to give the ring as much room as possible, with a minimal layout that keeps the hardware front and center. Technical details and specifications are introduced gradually as the page unfolds, without overwhelming the simplicity of the experience.

The page then transforms directly into the ordering flow, with a simple, stateful interface for selecting finishes, sizing, and purchase options. The idea was to make the transition from exploring the product to purchasing it feel almost seamless, maintaining the same sense of clarity and refinement throughout.
